Breaking into the silence

· FATHERS need FAMILIES **Petition**

· Please sign gather other signatures and return before 1st June 07

· A meeting with the Families Commissioner and a delegation of fathers is planned for Wednesday 21st February at 12pm. The delegation led by Dr Viv Roberts will present to the Commissioner six fathers stories who they present have suffered from an ante – male gender bias of the Family Court. Dr Roberts has done extension work on male suicides with their consistency for the Family Court and protection orders. Among the stories are highlighted some of the extreme injustices which are held under the wraps of the court’s suppressive powers such as Christchurch father of two, Peter Burns and now Wellington father of two Benjamin Easton.

· The meeting has been coordinated and arranged by Craig Jackson who has worked diligently in Wellington to bring such stories out into the open without the fear of prosecution from the courts for breaching its rules in privacy. Dr Viv Roberts and the others in the delegation plan to ensure that there is an end put to the myth that the Family Court has not been biased or discriminatory against fathers. As a representative of the Fathers’ Coalition, Benjamin Easton will distribute leaflets at the entrance to the Families Commission building of a petition aimed to repeal all laws breaching the association of a son or daughter with their mother or father.
